Are you tired of messing with black
tape, hairspray, grip glue, wire pliers, etc., to get your ATV or Motorcycle
grips to lock on to your bars?
Look no more: http://www.odigrips.com/
Our group contacted a inside sales
rep at ODI Kimberlyann@odigrips.com
to ask some questions regarding their new Power Sport Grip Systems
for ATV, MX/Enduro & Watercraft. After several discussions with ODI
about how these work, we decide to demo (Punish more like, lol) a few different
sets within our group.
Here's how they work: Their patented Lock-On Grip System for ATV's and Watercraft uses four aluminum Lock Jaw Clamps (two on either grip) to lock your grips onto the bars. They can be removed or installed in just a few seconds without the using any glues or ties and without destroying your grips each time. Simply snap the aluminum Lock Jaw Clamp onto the ears on either end of the grip. Slide the grip to the desired position on the handlebars and lock them into place by tightening the allen bolts in each of the clamps. If desired, slip the Bar End Plugs over the outer Lock Jaw Clamps and secure by turning the screw clockwise.

Now on to the Demo: After receiving 2 starter kits (pictured above) we installed & tried the Ruffian style on my bike first. To be honest, I was totally impressed on how easy they were to install. I took my old grips off (pulled off with no problem because I never really got them to stick) and within a matter of 5 minutes these new grips were on locked solid to my Renthal Banshee Bars. I road with these on my bike for a solid 3 days and they never even moved. They were comfortable, mounted solid & looked awesome. The only thing that I didn't like about these were that the Ruffian style grip didn't have much cushioning for your hands and I was able to detect some vibration from my bars on our longer rides. Aside from that, they were one of the best grips that I have rode with yet.
My next trip to the dunes was for a full week. In an attempt to resolve the vibration issue I installed the Rogue Style Kit. The removal of the 1st set and installation of the 2nd was a snap. These Rogue grips were much more comfortable and seemed thicker with added cushioning for extra comfort. This second set of grips also came with Billet aluminum Lock Jaw clamps and were much nicer looking than the black aluminum clamps. Once these were installed, I immediately jumped on my bike and went out to try them. The extra cushioning was much more comfortable and my vibration through the grips was gone. I was very pleased with this 2nd set and plan to ride the remainder of the year with these on my bike.
As you know, one of the worst things that can happen to you as you are tuned (wide open) in 5th or 6th gear is to have something go wrong with your bike up front. Like loosing a grip?. Not good. I can honestly tell you that this is not going to happen with these grips. I have ridden for approx. 3 months now with these grips on my bike. I am a full grown larger rider (6'4" & 300 lbs) and have put these grips to the test over this past 3 months. While most of our riding has been mainly on the Dunes & Trails, we ride hard and I can tell you, I have punished these grips just about as hard as you can and have had no issues with them. I normally go through 1 or 2 sets of grips every year, and these look like they are going to hold up.
Conclusion: Whether you plan to use these for MX or ATVing, I highly recommend the Rogue style kit with the Billet Clamps. You wont believe how easy they are to install, and how rock solid they clamp to you bars. For the record, they now offer these in several different Twist throttle sets as well. You can also purchase replacement grips, clamps & caps for these as well as the full kits online or at your local dealer for a little as $17.95 per set.
Well worth the money in our opinion(s).
