DIAMOND LAKE 2008

| As you will see from the following photos, this years Diamond lake trip presented many challenges for those of us that were looking forward to riding in the snow as we have in years past. Most of us arrived Thursday afternoon fairly easy with all the snow on the pass, but getting home on Sunday with trees down and the roads closed presented some challenges to say the least.
Friday morning we heard that a heavy winter snow storm was predicted for the weekend so we headed out to see what areas we could find to ride. The only areas you could travel on a quad were the main roads that had been plowed and aside from one small campground area that was vacant, we struck out trying to ride the areas we have in the past :(
Friday late afternoon it started snowing and it didn't let up until late Sunday late morning for a brief period. The opening picture is a example of how much it snowed each night we were there. By sunday morning, we had to chain up, dig our trailers out and wench them out into the open to be able to hook up.
Odot had hwy's 138 & 97 blocked/closed, but after talking to them 2 or 3 times we learned that they would not stop us if we attempted to leave and decent down off the mountain. Diamond lake lost power Early Sunday Morning, and we had one thing on our minds and that was to be home for the super bowl.
While we did not get much riding in, this was a adult weekend, so staying by the fire with a our adult beverages made for a fun memorable weekend at the lodge. We had a full potluck on Sat, and had a blast just hanging out in the party rooms :)
Sorry, no videos, and very few ride pics to share this year. Looking forward to next years opener already.................
Cheers, toad.
